Elise’s destination shoot in New York City was full of unexpected twists that made for a great story and plenty of beautiful snaps to remember it.
Elise knew from the start she wanted to go to NYC, but her Dad, an architect with strong ties to Harrisburg, wanted Elise to center her session in her hometown. With some convincing on Elise’s part, we decided to take a day trip to the Big Apple to commemorate their family’s connections to the arts and culture scene in New York.
After getting her hair and makeup done by Talitha from Collado Cosmetics, Elise, her mom Tracie and I made a mad dash to the train station only to arrive just as our train was pulling away. Because we had to wait over an hour for the next one, Elise’s dad got his way as we shot all over the Harrisburg Train Station (an underrated gem right in the backyard of Elise’s school, CASA). The white dress she chose from the style closet was perfect for the vintage vibes at the station and it made for the ideal space for some gorgeous dance photos.
By the time we got to NYC, we had lost a chunk of time so we knew we had to move a bit quicker than originally planned. Our first stop was Lincoln Center where we took advantage of the world-class architecture to showcase Elise’s talent on pointe.
Elise then changed into her second look, an adorable brown two-piece set from American Eagle, and we shot outside of the American Ballet Theatre. Because of the craziness of our arrival, we had to stop and grab Elise something to eat, and in NYC, the quickest (and cutest) option was an ice cream truck!T he shots we got of Elise crossing in the middle of a busy street look straight out of Gossip Girl and are where you can really see her personality shine through.
We then moved over to Central Park to finish up in her last look, a red floral maxi dress from the style closet. We only had about 20 minutes before we had to head to the train station, but you would never know from how peaceful and beautiful those images turned out. We got to Penn Station with just ten minutes to spare before our train departed back home to Harrisburg.
Even though our day did not go the way we had originally planned, Elise’s senior shoot in both her hometown and on location in New York City was full of fun and memorable moments with special meaning to her whole family.
