Fall is hands down my favorite season. It’s the time of year I chose to get married, it’s the time of year that brings back memories of Friday nights spent in the football stands in my color guard costume living life up with my friends.  Fall means hayrides, corn mazes, and apples galore, mums, Halloween parades, and pumpkin EVERYTHING.  It means dusting off the boots, moving the scarves, beanies, and sweaters and all our favorite layering pieces to the front of the closet. At the beginning of September, I purged 5 bags of clothes from my closet. My goal this fall is to continue to refine my style and stick to pieces that make me feel comfortable, beautiful, and like my best self. Be it classic pieces, be it something more trendy, I want to have pieces in my wardrobe that reflect me and who I am during this season of my life.

Today, Stephanie and I bring you a few of our fall favorites.

I am a cardigan kind-of-girl and at last count I had about 10 different cardigans. This warm, chunky mustard cardi has been a part of my “fall uniform” when the temps started dipping last week. I have worn it with jeans, with dresses, layered under a denim vest. The possibilities are endless. This particular cardigan is from Forever21 and came in at under $15.

Along with cardigans, TIGHTS are another one of my favorite fall must haves. I love to take my summer dresses and wear them all fall long paired with boots, scarves, cardigans and tights in coordinating colors. I stock up at stores like Target, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls towards the end of the season when they put all the tights on sale.

Just because summer has rolled out, does not mean we should lax on keeping our fingertips polished. Before busting out my gloves for winter, I love to deck out my nails in these two Essie shades: Shearling Darling and Damsel in a Dress.

Mechanicsburg Senior Photographer_0088I am a girl whose jewelry tastes vary. But what does not vary, is my love for unique hand-made jewelry. I came across Black Crystals via one of my favorite fashion bloggers, Orchid Grey and almost immediately ordered the beautiful piece you see above. Since I ordered it, the days I don’t wear it are few and far between. If you love, simple, geometric, nature inspired pieces, be sure to check out Black Crystals on Etsy.
Mechanicsburg Senior Photographer_0089Sweater and Lace. Lace and Sweaters. I am in love with this layered look. A quick search on the internet will reveal all sorts of ways you can rock this look. You can choose to layer a sweater over a ruffled lace slip like I did or you can find a whole host of stores that have sweaters with a beautiful piece of lace sewn right into the bottom of the sweater that gives you that same layered look in one piece.

Now, I pass it off to Stephanie to share what she is swooning over this fall.

As I pack up my suntan lotion and bandeaus and haul out my boots and scarves, I realize the farewell to this summer is nothing to mourn. In fact, I’m not even saying goodbye! Taking a closer look at most of my styles from warmer days, these ensembles can still be worn, but enhanced with cozy, warmer attire.

Take cut-off t-shirts for an example. I wore my ripped up Pink Floyd T weekly with a pair of jean shorts and gladiator sandals all summer long. The focus item from this outfit was my shirt. Now, paired with skinny jeans, high tops and a wool cardigan, I went from a summer look to fall in an instant. You can even keep your shorts from out under the bed this winter and wear them over a pair of black tights and combat boots. I was at Forever 21 this week and saw some tights for $5. I bought one in every color._0052

You can take any staple Summer piece, be it a flirty dress, billowy blouse, cut out tank , etc., and tag on a colorful cardigan, skinny jeans, leggings or tights and suddenly you’re set for a chilly evening by the fireplace. Even your Summer statement piece jewelry can be paired with warmer colors to create a totally different look.

_0053To keep your glow from head to toe, I highly recommend a touch of bronzer. Adding these elements to your Fall wardrobe is number one priority. But to complete these fun looks, a touch of warm powder just below your cheekbone and a swipe on your nose will keep you from looking like you haven’t seen the sun in 187 days. I use Urban Decay NAKED Flushed to keep my face as lively as my outfit. It includes bronzer, a highlighter and pink blush.

So to recap, building ONTO your summer wardrobe will help you transition your closet into Fall. My very simple go-tos include skinny jeans, colorful cardigans, big jewels and big belts.
